Hygge is a quality of Danish culture. It cannot be translated using a single word. Rather, it includes many of the pleasures we link with everyday living - relaxing with friends, enjoying good food, and creating a cosy evening with a candle or two. It refers to a mental state of cosiness, warmth, and togetherness in the heart of winter. It also helps the Danes get through the long, dark and cold winters.
